Highland Park
Where the North Sea rises to meet the Atlantic Ocean, where rugged coastlines are whipped smooth by salty sea winds, where heather and peat cover kilometre after kilometre of wild moorland, this is the island of Orkney, home to Highland Park Distillery, Scotland’s most northerly whisky distillery. The finest single malt is produced here in the same way as it was over 220 years ago. The surprisingly mild climate on the islands and the commitment to using only the best sherry-aged oak casks ensure that this whisky matures to perfection on the island in peace and quiet – even when the wind is blowing outside.
Highland Park 12 Years Old
The 12 year old single malt whisky is spicy and rounded, packed with the flavours of sun-kissed Seville oranges and rich fruit cake, spiced with cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves.
Highland Park 15 Years Old
A wonderfully rich and complex single malt. It opens with rich and spicy flavours of crème brûlée, heather honey and cinnamon, followed by intensely fruity notes – such as pineapple and lemon.
Highland Park 18 Years Old
It presents a medley of ripe cherries with bittersweet cocoa, freshly harvested honeycomb and candied orange peel. The aromatic peat smoke is reminiscent of the salty sea breeze from Orkney.
Highland Park 21 Years Old
For this edition, ex-bourbon hogsheads, first-fill sherry casks and an ex-Rioja cask were used for delicious flavours of tropical fruits, roasted almonds, freshly grated nutmeg and floral peat smoke.
Highland Park Cask Strength Release
Bottled at cask strength, this release opens with tantalising aromas of toasted coconut, crushed lemon and cedar and finishes in aromatic peat smoke with a hint of Turkish delight.
Highland Park Dragon Legend
With notes of rich vanilla cream with warm winter spices, the flavour of sun-ripened lemons glazed with sweet heather honey and clouds of aromatic peat smoke.
Cocktail ideas
Salted Honey Old Fashioned
- 5 cl Highland Park 12 Years Old
- 1 cl Honigsirup (1:1)
- 1 dash orange bitters
- 1 dash angostura bitters
- pinch of smoked salt
Pour the ingredients into a mixing glass filled with ice. Stir until the drink is well chilled. Strain into a tumbler with large ice cubes. Garnish with orange zest.
Cherry and Chocolate Old Fashioned
- 5 cl Highland Park 18 Years Old
- 0,7 cl Maraschino liqueur
- 2 dash Mozart Chocolate Bitter
Pour the ingredients into a mixing glass filled with ice. Stir until the drink is well chilled. Strain into a tumbler with large ice cubes. Garnish with a fresh black cherry.
